Farmhouse Inspired
In The City
This renovation was all about helping a young couple breathe new life into their first home, with their loyal dog always by their side. What started as a plan to update the kitchen quickly evolved as we uncovered new opportunities to improve other key areas, like the fireplace and stairs. The kitchen, a narrow and challenging space, required thoughtful collaboration with the clients and contractor to fit in an island—one of the couple’s must-haves.
Our focus was on brightening the home while layering texture and warmth, which we achieved through carefully chosen wood-tone accents and a beautifully textured backsplash. The couple’s farmhouse-inspired aesthetic came to life through design details like the apron-front sink, black metal lantern light, and rustic styling touches.
One of the most exciting transformations was converting an old built-in desk area into an arched walkway connecting the kitchen and dining room. This space now features a charming bar nook, adding function and character to the flow of the home. Custom cabinetry made the kitchen truly theirs, with thoughtful details like an appliance garage, adjustable pantry shelves (with room for dog food containers!), clever corner pullouts, a wine rack, and open shelving for display.
In the dining room, we added wallpaper to bring depth and texture, working with the clients’ sentimental dining table to keep their personal story intact. We also gave the living room fireplace a much-needed refresh, making it feel more aligned with the home’s new look.
At the front of the house, a large custom window seat—complete with washable cushions—provides the perfect spot for the dog to lounge comfortably, adding both beauty and practicality to their new home.
