Outdoor Living for Spring on the Eastern Shore

Spring is here, and there's no better time to step outside, breathe in the fresh air, and enjoy the tranquil charm of the Eastern Shore. Whether you're by the bay soaking in scenic views, gearing up for your next crab feast, or just giving your home's exterior a little refresh, setting up your outdoor spaces with distinct, purposeful areas can help you get the most out of the warmer months this Spring and Summer.

We firmly believe that a front porch or back patio should  be treated like an additional room (but outdoors!). Just like your home's interior, each section of your outdoor space should  serve a specific purpose: a place to have your coffee, dine, play with your kids, work, or just relax in the sunshine. It’s important to think through how YOU wish to use each space and create a plan that gets you there.

Bring indoor decor items outdoors

If it can handle the elements, why not move a few favorite indoor decor items outdoors for the season? We love using vases and  decorative bowls to complete a spring table top look. When choosing these, think about function and form, add items that will draw you out of doors and into the space. A tray to place your dishes on that can easily be brought inside when it’s time to switch modes; a beautiful tablecloth that brings you outside for lunch; or a taper candle to set the mood.

Fill your space with plants and blooms

Nothing says Spring on the porch quite like potted plants and beautiful blooms. Our go-to for a front covered porch is adding large hanging ferns and ornamental plants in big planters. And for an outdoor dining table, place a branch from a tree in a large vase for an easy and affordable, natural vibe.

Swap out pillows & cushions

If you’re hosting a pool party, add more color to your space with fun and bright outdoor cushions along with botanical throw pillows. Choose colors and patterns that bring you joy and reflect the springtime blooms. A mix of textures and hues can create a lively and inviting space that you and your guests will love.

Go ahead and tailor this guide to fit your vision and practical needs, making sure every outdoor gathering is distinct and memorable. Feel free to mix and match styles, play with colors, and infuse elements that showcase your personality.
